Chocolate Gifts for Teachers
- Chocolate pretzel sticks combine the sweet taste of chocolate with the saltiness of pretzels. Make these treats at home by placing a mixing bowl of milk chocolate chips over a boiling pot of water and melting the chocolate. Dip the pretzel into the dish and swirl it around to get the chocolate on all sides before setting it aside on a wire rack to dry. Wrap several sticks in a cellophane wrap and tie with a ribbon.
- Give the teacher a box of chocolate truffles. Truffles are melted chocolate that is sometimes mixed with liquor or extract before being cooled into a ball and coated. Coatings include dark chocolate, white chocolate, crushed nuts, powdered cocoa or sugar. Candy boxes may contain fruit covered in chocolate, like cordial cherries, or nuts mixed inside a chocolate piece. Shapes may be square, round or flat.
- A decorative jar of chocolate candy can sit on the teacher's desk. All this gift requires is emptying a couple of bags of candy into a large glass jar until it is filled. Pop on a top and bow. Candy options include wrapped foil chocolate candies, such as hearts, kisses, peanut butter cups or caramel chocolates. Another option includes dropping espresso coffee beans or nuts into melted chocolate and scooping them out to dry before packing.
- A chocolate spoon adds taste to hot drinks. Although you could buy these spoons at the store, they can be made fairly quickly at home. Pop a microwave-safe bowl filled with mint chocolate chips into the microwave for 20 seconds to melt. Dip a plastic spoon into the bowl and let it dry. Options for these spoons include vanilla or dark chocolate. You can also drizzle vanilla over the mint chocolate or dark chocolate spoon. Place the spoons inside a coffee cup with several hot chocolate mixes for a gift.
