Algebraic equation and expression 5 th grade
Introduction to algebraic equation 5 th grade:
Algebra is the branch of mathematics concerning the study of the rules of operations and relations, and the constructions and concepts arising from them, including terms, polynomials, equations and algebraic structures. In mathematics, an equation is a finite combination of symbols that are well-formed according to the rules applicable in the context at hand. Symbols can designate values variables, operations, relations, or can constitute punctuation or other syntactic entities. Here we are going to study about how to solve the algebraic equation for 5 th grade students and its example problems. (Source from Wikipedia)
Algebraic equation 5 th grade- example problems
Example: 1
Solve the following algebraic equation
4x + 5 = 3
Solution:
First we have to add both sides -5 we get
4x + 5 -5 = 3 - 5
In left hand side 5 - 5 is cancelling reaming we get
4x =-2
Divide both sides 4 we get
x = - `2/4`
The simplest fraction is `1/2`
Therefore the value of x = -`1/2`
Example: 2
Solve the following algebraic equation
4x+6+2x =3x-4
Solution:
Here both sides having unknown variable first combine the like terms in left side we get
4x + 2x + 6 = 3x-4
Simplify the above equation we get
6x + 6 = 3x – 4
Now add both sides -3x we get
6x -3x + 6 = 3x - 3x - 4
Simplify the above equation we get
3x + 6 = -4
Add both sides -6 we get
3x+6-6=-4-6
Simplify the above equation we get
3x = -10
Divide both sides 3 we get
x = - `10/3`
Therefore the value of x = - 10/3
5 th grade example: 3
Write the algebraic equation and solve the following
Four times x more than 46 is equal to 90
Solution:
We can write the algebraic equation 4x + 46 = 90
Now we solve for x
Add both sides -46 we get
4x +46 – 46 = 90-46
Simplify the above equation we get
4x = 44
Divide both sides 4
x = `44/4`
x =11
Therefore the value of x = 11
Algebraic equation 5 th grade - Practice problems:
Solve the algebraic equation 7x-6 = 9
Answer x = 2.142
2. 4 times x more than 37 equal to 45 find the value of x
Answer x = 2

Example: 1
Solve the following algebraic expression
3x + 4 = 2
Solution:
First we have to add both sides -4 we get
3x+4-4 = 2-4
In left hand side 4-4 is cancelling reaming we get
3x =-2
Divide both sides 3 we get
x = -`2/3`
Therefore the value of x = -`2/3`
Example: 2
Solve the following algebraic expression
3x+7+2x=3x-2
Solution:
Here both sides having unknown variable first combine the like terms in left side we get
3x + 2x + 7=3x-2
Simplify the above expression we get
5x + 7 = 3x – 2
Now add both sides 3x we get
5x-3x+7 = 3x-3x-2
Simplify the above expression we get
2x + 7 = -2
Add both sides -7 we get
2x+7-7=-2-7
Simplify the above expression we get
2x = -9
Divide both sides 2 we get
x = - `9/2`
x = -4.5
Therefore the value of x = -4.5
Example: 3
Write the algebraic expression and solve the following
Two times x more than 23 is equal to 45
Solution:
We can write the algebraic expression 2x+23=46
Now we solve for x
Add both sides -23 we get
2x + 23 – 23 = 45 - 23
Simplify the above expression we get
2x = 22
Divide both sides 2
x = `22/2`
x =11
Therefore the value of x = 11
