Fortitude - Part 4
The Letter 'U' - Use your experience to help others When God allows events to happen in our lives, it is not for fun nor is He a God who enjoys watching His people suffering.
He always has a purpose for allowing events to take place and for us to learn valuable lessons from it.
And through the events, He revealed Himself to us as He shows us the way out.
When we went out of the situation victorious, the journey does not end there.
God wants us to help others going through the same trials and to offer comfort to others with the same comfort we received from God (2 Corinthians 1:6).
We cannot comfort others unless we are first comforted by God.
Having gone through the same experience and knowing how to walk out of it, we can share with others God's faithfulness and how God can meet others in their trials, too.
We are also able to offer help and they can receive the same comfort from God as well.
There are many out there who do not bow down to the misfortunes they face in life.
Instead, they choose to face the situation and walk bravely through it.
Christopher Reeve, a once famous actor, well-known for his role in the movie as Superman, was one such example.
Christopher had a horse riding accident one day.
He fell from his horse and injured his back where he became paralysed from neck down.
The man who was once active and known as Superman, representing strength and power, now became a vegetable.
He needed assistance everyday.
But Christopher chose not to succumb to his situation.
Every morning when he woke up, he would spend 20 minutes crying and trying to gather himself to face the day ahead.
When he was done with it, he would continue with his mission to help others in the same situation by raising funds for the paralysed like himself.
He would made trips around the world, give motivational speeches, and challenged the medical field to discover a cure for the paralysed.
This is truly a man who not only represents strength but act out his strength through his weakness.
Our greatest life message comes out of our adversity, not our strength.
The very thing we want to forget or regret in our life.
God wants to use it to encourage someone who is going through the same thing.
Out of that weakness, we turn it into strength.
In 2 Timothy 2:10, Paul says that he is willing to endure anything so that he can be a blessing to someone else.
God never waste any of our experiences.
The Letter 'R' - Rely on God's power God does not intend for you to go through your trials by your own self nor to resolve the issues by your own strength.
By choosing to go on your own, you will not be able to make it through.
He wants us to rely on Him and to increase our faith in Him.
He wants to strengthen us through our trials and to make us strong (Colossians 1:11).
By the strength of God, we will be able to pull through our trials victoriously.
We are to rejoice even in the midst of our trials, to be patient and to wait for God's deliverance.
We are not to give up but to persevere in prayers at all times (Romans 12:12).
Never to give in to hard times.
The Letter 'E' - Expect God to bless you To receive breakthrough, we are to expect God's deliverance and not to be in that situation forever.
James 1:12 says that "Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.
" We are to endure and to expect great rewards when we persevere to the end.
Job is a good example of God rewarding those who believe and love Him.
When you read the Book of Job, we saw God's plan for Job was good although in the initial Job suffered greatly.
But James 5:11 says that those who endured are blessed.
God is compassionate and merciful to those who seek Him first.
We can expect God to bless us if we endure hardship, we will reign.
But it is according to the measure of your faith where God will reward you accordingly.
Endurance is one of the qualities that God wants to develop in us.
If we want to do the works of God, endurance is needed in order to receive God's promises in the end (Hebrew 10:36).
John Stephen Akhwari, a great athlete who competed in the Olympic.
Just before the competition, he suffered a serious injury to his leg.
He continued to race with bandages covering his leg.
When others long finished the race, he reached the crossing line two hours later.
When he was asked why he persisted to the end, he said that his country did not send him thousands of miles to win the race, but to finish the race.
In our Christian walks, it is not about winning, it is about us enduring to the end till we cross the finishing line.
God never gives up on us so we should not give up on ourselves.
If He is able to meet us in each stage of our life, we should do our part to put in the efforts to endure to the crossing line for the promise of the crowd of life.
When things get tough, look to Jesus, the best model for us to follow who endure to the very end to the cross for the salvation of mankind.
