Believe in Yourself - How to Increase Your Self Confidence

103 29
Our self belief can be fragile at times.
So often it gets dented by even the slightest event.
The trouble is that if you're not careful with this, it can send you into a downward spiral.
Here are some easy to follow tips that can help to increase your self confidence and start to create your own personal force field.
Don't take things personally Yikes! There's nothing like starting with a big issue.
A lot of comments that are made to us - and often even about us - aren't necessarily "meant".
They may be in jest or they may just relate to one particularly dumb moment.
The problem is, we blow them up out of all proportion and apply a single negative comment to the whole of our life.
So not taking things quite as personally is an excellent place to start increasing your self confidence.
Shrug your shoulders.
Tell yourself you'll do better next time (even if you don't actually believe that yourself at the moment).
And move on.
The world is still here.
So are you.
Enjoy yourself for a change! Change the music you play Music usually reflects our mood.
But we can also use it to change the mood we're in.
If you're always playing tracks that are "down" and depressing - haunting music that doesn't lift your mood - then swap it.
You'll be amazed at how fast changing the tempo of the music you're playing in the background also positively affects the mood in your life.
Play something a bit more uplifting and notice how your mood - and almost certainly your self confidence - lifts at the same time.
Praise yourself Go on! Stroke your own ego! Even if no-one else does this for you, you'll notice a positive change in the way you feel.
Again, this will have a knock on effect on your self confidence.
If you're happy and you show it, you'll radiate more confidence.
And since most people act as mirrors to your mood, in turn you'll attract more positive people into your path.
Which will have the effect of reinforcing your improved self confidence.
Stand up straight It may sound like a cliche but this one works.
It's easy to do and if you're somewhere you're not going to get embarrassed then take the opportunity to not just stand up straight but to raise your hands to the sky, tilt your head upwards and yell "Yes! Yes! Yes" at the top of your voice.
OK, that's not something you'd do on your morning commute unless you want the whole of the subway carriage to yourself.
But in the comfort of your own home it's a great way to start the day and to begin pumping positive energy into yourself.
So, even if you're totally cynical about the idea of yelling the word "yes" at the ceiling, promise yourself that you're open minded enough to at least try it once.
Then pay attention to how you feel after that - I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at just how much it changes your mood and your confidence level.
