- 1). Place the desired number of gladiolus stems in the vase or container. If you plan to use less than 10 gladiolus stalks, use an odd number of stalks.
- 2). Choose filler flowers that coordinate or create a color theme with your gladiolus flowers. White baby's breath paired with pink or yellow gladiolus will give a soft springtime feel to a floral arrangement. Wax flowers are another choice for filler flowers. They have daisy like flowers that are available in pink, purple and white. Choose purple wax flowers to coordinate with purple gladiolus blooms. A single color dominating the arrangement gives a sophisticated look.
- 3). Place the filler flowers one by one into the vase. Place the flowers between the gladiolus stalks and around the outside near the edge of the container. The stems of the flowers need to go straight down into the vase. Do not cross the stems of the flowers in the arrangement.
- 4). Choose greenery to add to the gladiolus arrangement. Boston fern fronds are a light green. A red gladiolus centerpiece with white baby's breath and green Boston fern fronds add a festive look to a winter holiday table. Winter daphne will also provide a green background for gladiolus blooms. In the winter you may find winter daphne covered with fragrant pink flowers.
- 5). Place the stems of the greenery straight down into the vase. The greenery will need to stay around the outside of the filler flowers and gladiolus stalks. Place a large grouping of greenery in the back of the arrangement to create a green backdrop. Allow fronds to bend naturally around the lip of the vase or container.
