How to Clean Portable Water Coolers
- 1). Remove all of the liquid from the portable water cooler.
- 2). Add 1 tsp. of institutional bleach to one gallon of regular tap water in a clean bucket or sink. Institutional bleach is approved for use with food supplies.
- 3). Dip a clean cloth into the mixture and scrub the inside of the cooler. Never use a scouring pad as it can scratch the plastic interior and create a porous surface.
- 4). Wipe the inside and outside of the spout and the inside and outside of the cooler's lid.
- 5). Pour one gallon of clean water into the cooler, put the lid on and shake the container to rinse the inside.
- 6). Open the spout and dispense as much of the clean water as possible. This will clean the inside of the spout. Pour out any remaining water from the bottom of the cooler.
- 7). Dry the inside of the cooler and the top and bottom of the lid with a clean, dry towel.
- 8). Set the water cooler upside down on a rack to finish drying. Be sure there is a good flow of air under the rack so the cooler will not trap moisture inside.
