- 1). Open up your photograph in your photo-editing software. While there are different types of editing software and different variations for completing this task in each, the steps below are universal for most software programs.
- 2). Click on the tool to add text to the image, which will create a layer on top of the image for typing. In Photoshop, this is the icon marked as a capital "T."
- 3). Type either the full word "Copyright" or the symbol for copyright. To create the copyright symbol, type either CTRL+ALT, then press "C" for the PC, or
Option+G for the MAC. - 4). Add the year the work was created, and your name.
- 5). Move the notice to whatever part of the photo you choose. In Photoshop, the tool for moving the text is the arrow icon at the top of your tool bar. Some people place it in the center to prevent others from cropping it off the photograph, while some prefer a corner placement that is less obtrusive.
- 6). Save the image with the new copyright notice as a .jpg file.
