Making My Own Website - How Just One Page Can Earn Passive Income

103 4
Making money on the internet was once something that required a lot of technical expertise.
There were no such things as HTML editors, premade site themes, or easy ways to upload.
Back in the day, making my own website meant learning HTML and typing the lines of code in through a clunky interface on a web host.
It took several months to really get the hang of it.
Despite the difficulties, the attraction that got me to bother with it was the same attraction that I have now: a website is a way to earn passive income.
Once set up and properly promoted, a sales site can make money for years without much further effort.
There is no thrill quite like getting big payments for doing practically nothing besides setting up a site.
Now, things have changed a lot, and it's easy to set up a website in a few minutes.
Instead of having to master HTML's intricacies, you can use simple HTML editors to lay out a functional page.
These editors, also known as WYSIWYG ("What You See Is What You Get") editors, used to cost a fortune.
Now, there are free ones that let users do anything that a standard web page needs.
Another big improvement is in the cost of hosting and domain names.
It was once a fairly expensive proposition to host a website.
Domain names were similarly overpriced.
Now, both hosting and domain names are extremely cheap.
Hosting can be had for less than five dollars a month, and some domain extensions go for less than a dollar.
Even.
com domains are cheap now; many registrars sell them for less than ten dollars a year.
Making my own website is now a simple and low-cost endeavor.
Some changes have nothing to do with cost, but are a result of the general evolution of the internet.
There was a time when running a site meant putting up hundreds or even thousands of pages, and then spending ages doing search engine optimization (SEO) in order to get them seen.
While this is still a workable method, it is far from the only way to make money online in the current times.
Now, you can put up a simple one-page site, and use a variety of methods to get traffic to it.
One-page sites are often used to sell ebooks and other electronic products.
The entire sales pitch is put on the single page so the reader never has to click a "next" button to get to the rest.
Testimonials, guarantees, and the details of the product are all right there in an easy-to-see font.
Finally, several calls-to-action and order buttons pepper the page at strategic points.
Getting traffic is always a key element to the success of any web page.
The best page in the world is nothing if nobody knows it's there.
There are many ways to get traffic on today's internet.
SEO is still an option, and it's a good one for those who enjoy a challenge.
It truly is a challenge, though, so much so that it's a field unto itself.
Fortunately, there are now many easier ways to get traffic to a site.
Social networking sites are one of the best resources for getting free traffic fast.
By using a few accounts on the biggest social sites, you can let thousands of people know your offer and URL.
Blatantly spamming out nothing but advertising to these sites is frowned on, so go ahead and be personable when putting messages on these sites.
Once you've established that you're not an ad-bot, mention your product and URL and it will likely be well-received.
