Cell phones are all about customization and you can choose what you hear when someone calls you (ringtones), what your callers hear while your phone rings (ringback tones) and how your phone looks (skins or covers).
As a mom of two teens, I am constantly hearing about the need for the latest, hottest ringtone. Our carrier, Verizon, offers thousands of each (as do the other carriers) and there are even places to get free ringtones or to make your own.

All of this made me wonder ... which Christian and Gospel ringtones are the most popular? According to Verizon, these are the top Christian ringtones for January 2013.

1. "Let It Rise" - Big Daddy Weave

Surprisingly, the most popular ringtone is an older tune by Big Daddy Weave rather than the more recent "Redeemed." "Let It Rise" comes to us from the 2006 release, Every Time I Breathe.

2. "How Great Is Your Love" - MercyMe

Going back even farther, "How Great Is Your Love" came to us in 2000 on Almost There.

3. "Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)" - Chris Tomlin

A contemporary yet classic song, "Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)" has been out since 2006 and if anything, it gets more popular every with every passing year.

4. "Shackles (Praise You)" - Mandisa

We seem to be partial to hits from the past this month. Maybe it's because things were seen as better a few years ago. Coming from the 2007 release, True Beauty, this song is still amazing and it is a timely reminder to praise Him through all of our circumstances.

5. "In The Middle" - Isaac Carree

The song from Isaac Carree's debut album, Uncommon Me, is powerful stuff. It reminds us that even when things aren't going our way, we should still be praising God!

6. "Lifesong" - Casting Crowns

Another blast from the past, "Lifesong" is another hit from an old release. The title track from the 2005 album, "Lifesong" reminds us that we should live our lives to serve the Lord.

7. "Burn For You" - tobyMac

This danceable song is another oldie but goodie. Coming from tobyMac's 2004 hit, Welcome to Diverse City, I can picture plenty of folks dancing around as their phones ring!

8. "Word Of God Speak" - MercyMe

Surprisingly not from the more current, The Hurt & The Healer, "Word Of God Speak" is from 2002's Spoken For. This power ballad spent 22 weeks on Billboard at #1.

9. "Nobody Greater" - VaShawn Mitchell

Over a year after the release of Triumphant, "Nobody Greater" still wows fans and touches hearts. Yes, there is nobody greater than Christ!

10. "Blessings" - Laura Story

Coming from Laura's 2011 release with the same name, "Blessings" has been one of the most popular ringtones since last June. This beautiful tone will remind you how God's blessings aren't always what we expect every time your phone rings!
