How to Set a Black Hole Gopher Trap
- 1). Locate a gopher tunnel in your yard. Gophers may form mounds or mounded dirt that runs like a tunnel on the top of the ground.
- 2). Dig out the center of the gopher mound. Using a screwdriver or small garden spade, dig around until you find the opening to the gopher's tunnel.
- 3). Set the spring inside the gopher trap and place two handfuls of dirt inside the trap.
- 4). Place the trap with the large hole against the opening of the tunnel. Level the trap so it is flush with the ground. Mound dirt around the trap to secure it in place.
- 5). Leave the other end of the gopher trap with the small opening uncovered. Gophers do not like the light and will try to stuff dirt inside the trap to eliminate the light. As it pushes dirt into the trap, the spring releases, killing the gopher.
