    Akron

    • Akron, Ohio, is located in the Great Lakes Region, and offers visitors numerous parks and hosts a variety of festivals every year. According to the city's fact sheet, 10 million people live within a 150-mile radius of Akron. This northeastern city also has the Ohio and Erie Canal towpath regional bike and hiking trail that follows along the canal. For visitors looking to spend the night in Akron several options are available. The Econo Lodge, Motel 6 and the Red Roof Inn Akron all offer pet-friendly rooms. These hotels issue a fee per day, so it is best to check with each hotel before booking on the size restriction of the pet.

    Cincinnati

    • Located at southern end of the state, Cincinnati is the third largest city in Ohio. The greater metro area of this city also includes northern Kentucky. The city spans over hills, bluffs and low ridges that overlook the Ohio River, and is located in the Bluegrass region of the country. More than 20 hotels throughout Cincinnati are pet friendly, including Baymont Inn, Days Inn, Comfort Inn, Holiday Inn, Howard Johnson and the Westin. Some of these hotels issue a separate fee for pets and size restrictions may apply. For visitors with dogs, two parks in the area offer off-leash dog parks.

    Cleveland

    • Located in northeastern Ohio and on the southern end of Lake Erie, Cleveland is second most populous city. The Playhouse Square Center, and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame are two of this area's major tourist attractions. Several colleges and universities also are located within this area. If you and your pet are planning on staying the night, or even an extended stay, Cleveland has many choices. This area offers many parks, stores and outdoor restaurants that are pet friendly. More than 40 hotels and motels welcome pets.

    Columbus

    • Located in the center of the state, this city not only is the capital, but it has the largest population in the state. Columbus is within 550 miles of more than half of the U.S. population. According to a Columbus press kit, between 2000 and 2005, the city was the second fastest-growing major metro area with a population of greater than one million. A Purina poll in 2008 ranked Columbus as #8 in pet healthiest cities. Depending on where you are in the city, more than 50 hotels and motels are pet friendly. This area has also off leash dog parks, city parks, stores, and outdoor restaurants and shopping centers that are pet friendly.
