Height for Bird Feeders
- Sparrows, towhees and juncos typically eat off the ground. Offer a flat, table-like feeder on the ground to attract these birds.
- Finches and cardinals are usually found feeding in low shrubs. To accommodate these birds, place feeders at the height of a mature bush--approximately 3 or 4 feet off the ground.
- Woodpeckers, chickadees and titmice normally feed high off the ground. Situating feeders 6 to 8 feet above the ground will bring these birds to your yard.
