Download a Map Outline

• 1). Navigate to a website such as World Atlas or Eduplace to find a map outline. These sites have maps from countries all over the world. Eduplace also has state maps, some cities, and specific geographic regions available to print.
  
  
• 2). Choose what country or continent you want on the menu listed on the homepage. On the Eduplace site, you will then choose again if you want a specific region or state of the country. Notice there are different options for outline maps, for example, political maps, and maps both with and without labels. The Eduplace outline maps are PDF files and will open in your default PDF reader application, which may be Adobe Reader, your browser, or another application. If possible, open the map in Adobe Reader, as this will provide additional functionality.
  
  
• 3). Print the map from Adobe Reader by clicking the "Printer" icon, or by clicking the "File" menu and choosing "Print." Alternatively, save a copy of the file: click the "File" menu, click "Save As," give the file a name, choose a save location, and click "Save."
  
  
• 4). Select "Print this map" on the World Atlas site in order to print the map on your printer.
  
  

Trace a Map Outline

• 1). Visit the References section in your local library. You can also use a book with maps that you already own. You will need a pencil and a few sheets of tracing paper.
  
  
• 2). Find the area in the References section that has geography books and atlases, or ask the librarian for assistance.
  
  
• 3). Find a map of the area you require. You will need a map that is not too big -- in order to trace it accurately, it must fit on only one page of the atlas or book, and must also fit onto a single sheet of tracing paper.
  
  
• 4). Place a piece of tracing paper over the map and use your pencil to trace the outline.
  
  
• 5). Correct any mistakes with an eraser and add any details you require.
