What to Wear on the Boat

• For daily cruising, most cruise lines recommend casual clothing. Shorts and tops with sandals, sneakers or other casual, low-heeled shoes are appropriate for most deck activities. Swim suits for the pool are necessary, of course. The weather tends to remain warm for cruises stopping in Belize, but a light sweater, wrap or jacket is good to have along. Pack a light raincoat in case of inclement weather.
  
  Most cruise lines have casual dining. Some may have one or two elegant dinners as part of the cruise package, or even a themed dinner or event. Check with the cruise line once you book your cruise for any special events. Casual dining attire for the ladies is usually sundresses, casual dresses, pants or capris and blouses or nice tops, along with sandals, flats or heels. Men usually wear khakis, casual pants or dress shorts with collared shirts or golf shirts. Elegant dinner attire includes cocktail dresses, elegant suits or evening gowns for the ladies and dress slacks with collared shirt and tie and a sport coat or suits for the men. A daring few may opt for the tuxedo.
  
  

What to Wear for Belize Excursions

• If you plan to make a shore excursion during your cruise to Belize, you might want to keep in mind the local weather conditions. Belize has a tropical climate--hot and humid. The rainy season lasts from May to November, and hurricane season starts in June and lasts through November.
  
  Cruises typically dock for a day at Belize City, allowing passengers the chance for an excursion. On land, passengers can choose to visit Mayan ruins, the zoo, the museum or numerous shops. For inland excursions, hats, sunglasses and layered clothing are recommended along with comfortable walking shoes.
  
  Cave tubing, snorkling or an airboat ride through the salt marshes are popular Belize water activities. Swimsuits underneath lightweight clothing are appropriate. Flip flops are OK; however, you might prefer a sturdier water shoe for some of the activities. Hats and sunglasses are a good idea.
  
  

What NOT to Wear

• Cruising tends to by slightly dressier than other vacation travel. While jeans might be appropriate in some circumstances, cut-offs or ripped jeans may be frowned upon. And it is not recommended to wear expensive jewelry or watches during your excursions.
