- 1). Place visual bird scares underneath the car. These are decoy items such as rubber owls or snakes that are small enough to fit under the car. Some decoy items have moving parts, such as an owl with a moving head, which makes them more effective.
- 2). Lay strips of foil tape on the ground around the area surrounding the car. This will act like a mirror and discourage the birds from landing. A car can easily drive over tape placed on the ground.

Purchase a sonic bird repeller. This can be placed near or under the car. Sonic repellers use an audible sound to chase birds away by emitting a sound like a predator or another bird in distress. Determine the type of bird you need to discourage before buying one in order to target the sound to the correct species. Units operate on electric or battery power and utilize multiple speakers which can be placed around the car.
Use an ultrasonic repeller if the car is in an area where the sound must be silent. These are as effective as sonic frequencies, operate on electric or battery power and also cover large distances and may be placed around or near the car. Sonic and ultrasonic repellers are designed for outdoor use. - 4). Consider the use of bird netting or spikes if the car is stationary. Netting can be run underneath the car and will discourage birds from perching or nesting there. Spikes are the most effective, since birds will not land where the spikes are placed, but are not practical if the car needs to be moved.
- 5). Combine two methods for a persistent bird problem. Use visual scares in combination with sonic or ultrasonic devices if necessary.
