How to Make Clear Glass Ball Ornaments

104 6
    • 1). Remove the metal loop and cap from the top of a clear glass ball ornament and place it in a bowl or on a small plate where you won't misplace it.

    • 2). Pour two tablespoons of rubbing alcohol into the ornament using a small funnel to avoid spills. Swirl the alcohol inside the glass ball to remove dust and clean the inside surface. Pour the alcohol out and allow the ornament to dry overnight.

    • 3). Place a kitchen or bath towel on your work table so the round ornament won't roll as you work with it. Situate the ornament in a small cup if you want to ensure it remains upright.

    • 4). Fill the glass ball ornament with accents that coordinate with your tree theme or the colors of the surrounding decorations. Curl 6-inch-long pieces of thin red and green ribbon by running them along the edge of a pair of scissors and feeding strips in through the opening at the top of the ball until the ornament is full. You can also use a small funnel to add bits of popped popcorn to match popcorn garland or one tablespoon of lightweight plastic silver beads as a shimmering touch, for example.

    • 5). Put the metal top and hanging loop back onto the filled glass ornament.

    • 6). Add an embellishment to the outside of the ornament, if desired. Use glass paint or glitter glue to add a family member's monogram or adhere a holiday-themed sticker to the center of the ball, for instance.

    • 7). Hang the embellished ornament on your holiday tree with a metal hook or a piece of ribbon or string. Cut a 6-inch-long piece of ribbon or string and thread one end through the hanging loop attached to the metal top of the ornament. Double knot the ends of the ribbon or string together to form a secure loop.
