How do you start to decide where to go on holiday? There is just so much choice! Tenerife weather is a big argument for going to the Canary Islands, but surely there is more to it than that? There is great weather in Greece.

So, apart from the weather, what is it about Tenerife that makes it worth visiting? Well if you are looking for a bargain the abundance of resorts in the south of the island makes for plenty of choice. You dont have to be pigeon holed into cheap but basic accommodation either, there are plenty of really smart five star properties on the island too. If you dont want to, you dont really need to leave the resorts as they have everything that you need. The resorts are known for having all the British home comforts. There are plenty of great beaches for you to relax on and work on your tan.

But what if you arent the sort of person who is just looking for sunny Tenerife weather when you are deciding where to go on holiday. Surely you cant find culture and adventure on Tenerife?

You might not think culture when you think of Tenerife holidays, but Tenerife might just surprise you. To be frank, you arent going to find any of that in the resorts themselves.

You dont need to go far from the resorts to find a totally different experience though. In fact the number 110 bus will take you to Santa Cruz. You wont believe you are on the same island as Playa de las Americas. You will probably have it to yourself too, as few tourists ever make it to Santa Cruz.

What about timing? When is the best time to go to Tenerife? You can rely on great weather in Tenerife year round. You might be well advised though to check the cultural calendar and time your visit to coincide with one of the many interesting events in the Canaries. Carnival time in February can be a great time for a holiday in Tenerife. Many say that the carnival is Santa Cruz is second only to Rio.

It isnt just carnival though, there are interesting events all year. A favourite of mine is the Noche de San Juan. The festival ends with beach parties and bonfires and an early morning cleansing dip in the sea. Noche de San Juan is in June, so you can also still pick up great last minute deals.
