How to Not Let Things Annoy You

    • 1). Learn to cope with others. There are certain things in this world that we simply cannot change. This is especially important in dealing with other people. You cannot really change the way a person acts, looks or feels, simply because it annoys you. Even though it feels as though that person was put on earth simply to be a burden for you, this is certainly not the case. In most cases, people are only concerned with their own well-being. Remember that their intention is not to annoy you.

    • 2). Take deep breaths. Annoyance comes from high levels of adrenaline in the body. Adrenaline is heavier than blood and it will make you feel hotter and more stifled. This will lead to anxiety, similar in feeling to annoyance. The more deep breaths you take, the more oxygen will enter your blood stream. This will make for a faster flow of oxygen through your body and an overall lighter feeling.

    • 3). Put things in perspective. We often get annoyed by some of the smaller things in life. Perhaps the vending machine won't dispense the candy bar you clearly paid for. Instead of banging the glass, take a step back and look at the bigger picture. The candy bar is not worth getting annoyed about. If you are able to take stock of the important things in your life, then you are far less likely to be annoyed by the unimportant things.

    • 4). Take time for yourself. Try to wake up 15 minutes earlier than you usually do. Take this time to do something that you wouldn't normally have time for in the morning. Being annoyed can sometimes come from a feeling that people aren't considering your feelings or needs. These fifteen minutes of "me time" satiate that need to feel considered. This will lead to a more relaxed state of mind and a greater amount of patience throughout the day.
