What To Expect In Your First Karate Class
Many of you may have given some thought into taking some sort of class, be it exercise, sports, gym or even karate. If you have ever given thought into taking part in some sort of martial arts then you have probably also wondered what you could expect from these types of classes. In this article we will discuss what you should expect in your first karate class.
Typically on the first day of Rockaway karate class your karate instructor is going to take a good portion of time to introduce everyone to each other. He or she will tell you what they are going to expect in their class as far as respect and how you should ask questions, etc. Next you and your classmates will move on to a good warm up.
It is always a good idea to have a good warm up before you start any form of exercise. Since karate is typically a hard workout, warming up is going to be necessary. You will perform some different stretches and exercises that will get your leg and arm muscles ready to kick and punch. Once you have done a good number of warm up exercises and stretches you will be ready to move on to some of the core moves in karate.
Your karate instructor will now go over with you some of these key moves so that you will begin to memorize them. These moves should probably be worked on in your own time as well as in class. You will be required to memorize these sequences of movements and will one day be asked to perform them in front of the class, so be sure to pay close attention. You will likely work on these kicks and punches for a good portion of the class because repetitive movement will help your muscles have good memory.
After performing these learned movements you and your classmates will then begin to use the accessories in Rockaway karate. By accessories I mean such things as punching bags, gloves, mirrors, any props in the room that can help you get a better feel for the movements you are learning. Using props is a great way to get any stress out that you may have been carrying around with you!
After this part of the class you and your classmates will then move into a cool down stage. These cool down segments can be really relaxing especially after a long hard day at the office, so enjoy them to the fullest!
I hope I have given you a small glimpse into what your first karate class may be like. I know I am excited and ready to sign up now, are you?
