How to Get a Work Visa for the Bahamas

• 1). Get proof of employment in writing. According to the High Commission of the Bahamas, documentation from your would-be employer in the Bahamas must accompany seven other pieces of information, which make up your visa application. These include: the application form itself, your passport, passport-sized photos, your travel ticket (most likely a plane ticket), an itinerary, proof that you have enough money to support yourself during your stay, and some evidence to support that you'll have a place to stay - either hotel booking documentation or a written invitation from a Bahamian resident, acknowledging that you'll be living with them.
  
  
• 2). Make sure your information is up-to-date. Though the service recommends your passport be valid for much longer - they advise at least six months. You'll also want to make sure the visas section of your passport has at least two extra pages, otherwise you'll have to request additional pages, which can take as little as one day to obtain for American citizen. If you have additional stops along the way to the Bahamas, you'll want to assure you have "transit visas," if the country requires them for even short stops.
  
  
• 3). Make sure your visa form is complete. You should have all the necessary, updated documentation listed above (as well as any fees noted on the application form for your respective country). The High Commission of the Bahamas reports that visas can take as few as two business days (excluding both British and Bahamaian holidays) and up to six weeks to process. If your application is missing a component, it will be denied and the process will have to start over again. They also caution that if you are coming from some countries in Africa and South America, you will need a valid certificate demonstrating that you have had a yellow fever vaccination.
