The Link between Allergic Inflammation and Chronic Disease
Inflammation in physiology or in the medical field is defined as: the response of the immune system from an infection or irritation. This is normally indicated by redness or swelling. This can be seen in common allergies that we normally hear about like Rhinitis, Sinusitis, Dermatitis or others like Arthritis (joint inflammation).
Now it seems that all these are relatively curable, avoidable and not too serious; however, there are certain inflammations that can cause and lead to certain chronic diseases. When we say chronic, this is commonly associated with the duration or frequency of an illness or occurrence. The above mentioned illnesses can be considered chronic indeed based on how the word is defined; but you will be seeing some other unexpected ailments to root from a mere inflammation to some more serious cases.
There are studies that show that there are direct links between inflammation and chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes and even cancer. Some may not show direct proof of root cause, but tests clearly show a decrease in probability of acquiring the following diseases. This is by merely taking certain medication in avoidance of inflammation as a trigger point.
Should our immune system react too much causing too much inflammation, this trigger may cause continuous, more so, unwanted development of the cells that may lead to cancer.
For those with allergies or noticeable inflammatory tendencies triggered by certain food or other environmental factors, do take your medication. If not, just avoid what you know can hurt. It may not happen now, but as discussed earlier, it may do so eventually with worse than expected effects.
