- 1). Lay the metal tire rim flat on the grass where you intend to place your charcoal grill.
- 2). Trace the outside of the tire rim with spray paint or marking paint and let it dry.
- 3). Dig 8 inches into the soil with a shovel, keeping within the perimeter of the marking paint. Place the tire rim into the ground.
- 4). Pack the sides of the tire rim with dirt to ensure that it is secure in the ground. Wet the soil with a bucket of water or your garden hose and then pack the soil down again.
- 5). Place landscaping rocks onto the exterior of your grill, surrounding it. Keep the exterior of the grill at least 4 to 6 inches wide.
- 6). Place charcoal into your grill and put the grill rack on top of the tire rim.
