Birthday Games for 6 Year Olds

    Wading Pool Relay

    • For an outdoor party, let the kids get wet with a water relay game. Use a child's wading pool that is at least 6 feet across, for maximum kid participation. Fill it with water and spread marbles across the bottom of the pool. Divide kids into two teams, and let them have one minute to gather up the marbles from the bottom of the pool with their toes---no hands allowed. Place a container on each side of the pool to hold retrieved marbles. The team with the most marbles at the end of one minute wins. Switch up the teams so everyone wins.

    Mummy Wrap Up

    • Pair up the kids and give each child a roll of toilet paper. Set a timer for five minutes and let one team member wrap their teammate in paper. Make it a race to see which team can finish the fastest. Go a few rounds so that each person gets a chance to be the mummy. Keep the camera handy for some silly photos.

    Hula Hoop Chain

    • Ask the children to stand in a circle and join hands. Place a hula hoop on the hands of one end of the circle. Let the children wiggle, bend and pass the hula hoop across to the next person without breaking the grip. The hula hoop should make its way all around the circle. Try timing the effort, then play the game a few times to see if the group can set new records.

    Balloon Dance

    • Inflate enough balloons so that each party guest has one. Play some lively music and let the kids bat the balloons into the air without letting them touch the floor. As the music stops, the children freeze and the balloons float to the ground. Start up the music and let the kids dance and hit the balloons again.
