"Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!"This cry is repeated over and over in the New Testament.
Why did people exclaim these words whenever Jesus passed by?In all scenarios, those who cried out unto Jesus for mercy needed a miracle for themselves or other people.
Each time, Jesus granted their request for a miracle and showed mercy to them.
Yet there have been occasions when God's long- standing mercy ceased toward those who offended Him.
"On that day I will become angry with them and forsake them; I will hide my face from them, and they will be destroyed.
Many disasters and difficulties will come upon them, and on that day they will ask, 'Have not these disasters come upon us because our God is not with us?'" (Deut.
31:17).
These words were a prophecy issued to Israel before they fell into idolatry.
I believe one day the citizens of America will ask this same question.
Has any leader recently called upon the mercy of the Lord for our nation and if they do, will the Lord hear the call for mercy or hide His face?Once nations, societies, and individuals have turned their back against the Lord, thus falling outside of the mercy of God, surely great devastation will follow.
When King David sinned against the Lord, God gave David an opportunity to choose his punishment:punishment from God or have his enemies overpower him for an allotted time.
David said, "I am in deep distress.
Let me fall into the hands of the LORD, for his mercy is very great; but do not let me fall into the hands of men.
(Chron.
21:13)" David selected the Lord's mercy and still received a severe punishment.
A plague was sent into Israel and seventy thousand men died as a result of David's sin.
Although David's sin was severe, he knew the reason his nation suffered.
America appears to care less as to the reasons why our nation is faced with various problems internally and externally.
Until we come together as one on the same accord to seek answers, the reason to ask the Lord for mercy on our nation becomes obsolete because those in power do not believe we need mercy from anything or anyone, let alone from the Lord.
David cried out in Psalm 119:132 "Turn to me and have mercy on me, as you always do to those who love your name.
"If actions speak louder than words, the world doesn't respect or love the name of the Lord.

For example, the blind man who shouted to Jesus for mercy: "Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, Son of David, have mercy on me!" (Mark 10:48).
Can you relate to the man crying out to Jesus?Everyone around the blind man told him to shut-up for even asking Jesus.
Do you know people who try to convince you that you do not need to ask for God's mercy when you know you have sinned?Rebuke these nay-sayers, humble your pride and ask the Lord aloud to have mercy upon you and our nation.
The Bible promises in Luke 1:50, "His mercy extends to those who fear Him, from generation to generation.
"Each generation in America has witnessed the moral decay increase NOT decrease from generation to generation, like a healthy root that no longer has the living water of Jesus Christ to sustain it.
The only thing our nation can do is follow the examples from the pages of history and shout, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on us!" before it is too late to ask.
Although the Lord's grace/mercy is everlasting, we as a nation should pray that the Lord never sets His face against America because by then it will be too late.
2nd Chronicle 7:14says, "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
"We are not blind to the truth.
The handwriting is on the wall, but no one wants to read it.
Several weeks ago, China shot down one of its weather satellites in outer space.
Sure the media reported on it, but mention of the ramifications of China's ability to do such a thing has been minimal.
The media doesn't report the threat of China passing the knowledge to North Korea, who in turn gives the knowledge to Iran.
China shooting down a satellite places the United States at its most vulnerable since it became a nation.
We are surrounded by our enemies who speak openly without fear of our destruction, from Hugo Chavez in Venezuela, to Ahmindejad in Iran, and even those who are within our own borders.
American citizens are oblivious to the peril the United States is in.
Our nation is following the same detrimental template of idolatrous Israel.
When disaster strikes our nation again, those who love the name of the Lord will say to the spiritually lost, "Have not these disasters come upon us because our God is not with us?" And the answer will be a resounding, "Yes!"
