Where to Sell Back Textbooks
- Barnes & Noble is not just a bookstore where you can buy your favorite books. Barnesandnoble.com allows you to check online and get a quote for how much your books are worth. If you have at least $10 worth of books to sell to them, they will send you a return label so you can send your books in free of charge. Once they receive your books, they will send you a check for the quoted amount.
- When you enter the ISBN number of your textbook, an offer will come up or you will receive a message that they are not currently buying your textbook. If they are not buying your book, you can list it in their marketplace section. They offer free UPS shipping when you sell your books to the site.
- Type the book's ISBN number into the search bar at the top of the page. Your textbook will come up and, when you click on the link, you can see how much others are selling their textbooks for. Whatever the condition your textbook is in, you can get an idea of how much yours would sell for on the site. You list the book and wait to see if someone purchases it. If your book sells, you will receive money for the book as well as some money for the shipping, and you are responsible for mailing it out to the buyer.
- If you would rather sell your books locally instead of online, you can list your book on Craigslist.com, where it is free to put up an ad. You can also use the search feature on Craigslist to see if someone is looking to buy the textbook you want to sell. You set the price, so if there is another textbook of the same name that another person is trying to sell, list yours for a few dollars cheaper to increase your chances of selling it. You will most likely meet in person to sell the book, so make sure to do so in a public place.
- Your campus bookstore is another place to sell back your textbooks. You can get an estimate from the bookstore of how much they would pay you for your book and compare it to the estimates you received from the online sites. If it is more than what you would receive from the sites, you can immediately sell your textbook there.
