Because of the short distance from Singapore to Bintan Island, it is quite a waste if people won't come to this part of Indonesia. It is a spectacular venue for total relaxation and rejuvenation so it is worth it to visit the beaches and all other wonderful places there.

To those coming to Bintan Island from Singapore for the first time, there are certain things you should know prior to your trip. Bearing all these in mind will surely make your experience more comfortable and interestingly unforgettable:

1. Travel Time from Singapore to Bintan = approximately 1 hour

Getting to Bintan Island from Singapore requires one to ride a ferry, and the travel time is only around almost an hour. There are several ferry operators to bring you there like Batam Fast, Wave Master by Berlian Ferries, Bintan Resort Ferries, Pacific Ferry, and more.

2. Assemble at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal

Ferries often come from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal, and it all follows a strict schedule. You will need to be at the port at least 1 ½ hours before your scheduled departure. Boarding passes will be collected around that time, and ferry operators have the right to cancel confirmed bookings if the passenger didn't come on time.

3. Time Difference = 1 hour

Bintan Island is of the same time zone as Jakarta (GMT+7) and is one hour behind of Singapore. That's why do not be amused when you arrive at the island at the same time you left the terminal.

4. Ferry & Yatch as Options for travel.

If you are not comfortable with riding public transportation as ferries, you can rent a private chartered yacht to bring you to Bintan Island; but that would, of course, cost more.

5. Confirm your Bintan resorts reservations before going to the island.

Prior to your trip, make sure that your bookings with Bintan Island hotels are confirmed. There are many establishments there to cater you, and won't mind walk-in guests. But things will be easier when you book rooms beforehand. Furthermore, you can avail promos when booking through their websites.

6. Bintan and Singapore has the same weather.

The weather in Bintan Island can be really humid, like in Singapore, so refrain from bringing thick clothes. Go for something casual. Wearing two-piece swimsuits in the beaches is okay as well.

7. Bring your sun protection kit.

Don't forget to bring sun block lotion and insect repellants. A hat and a pair of sunglasses will also be helpful as basking on the sun-kissed sand will expose you to sunlight, and too much of it may be risky.

8. Currencies accepted are Singaporean dollars & Indonesian Rupiah.

Singaporeans have the liberty to use their own currencies when paying for hotel rooms. There are hotels who accept Singaporean dollars. However, some small establishments won't so it's safe to have some of your money changed into Rupiah. You may also use international credit cards.

9. Safe water

Drinking water from hotel taps in Bintan Island is safe, as approved by the World Health Organization. If you're not too picky, then you can save yourself from spending so much on water to battle the heat there.

10. Traveling from Batam to Bintan?

When you're coming from Batam Island (Indonesia), you may ride a regular speed boat from Telaga Punggur to Tanjung Uban Ferry Terminal. Then, you will transfer via land vehicle to Bintan resorts.

It may seem like an easy trip, but if one thing gets out of hand, the whole trip may be ruined. So to obtain the best experience, especially when you're traveling for the first time, booking tours to Bintan from trusted travel agencies is recommended. Doing so would not just lessen the pressure of planning everything to perfection, but it can even allow you to save money.
