How to Fix Blurry Photos

104 8
    • 1). Open the image in a photo editing software program, such as Adobe Photoshop or Corel PaintShop. You can download several free programs, such as Google's Picasa or GIMP-The GNU Image Manipulation Program, if you do not want to buy an editing program.

    • 2). Find the sharpening tool on your program; you can usually locate it at the bottom of your tool palette. Use this tool to sharpen blurry portions of the photograph. You can over-sharpen pictures, which leads to an outline or halo around your images, so you want to use as little sharpening as necessary to fix the photograph.

    • 3). Use the sharpening filters, found in the "filter" category, to help fix a more extensively blurred photograph. The options here usually include "Sharpen", which will tweak your photograph just a bit, "Sharpen More" and "Sharpen Edges," which adds darker tones to the edges of your photographs.

    • 4). Repeat the use of any filters until you achieve the desired result, and don't be afraid to erase your edits and return to a previous step if you accidentally make the image worse.
