There are two ways to do your home renovation projects.
You can either do it all by yourself or hire a professional to do it for you.
Most people prefer doing things their own way nowadays with the vast do-it-yourself guides available in the internet.
However, there's no doubt some things are best done by professionals.
Professionals are well skilled on every specific specialty they are trained to do.
In installing laminate floorings for example, you can choose to do it either way.
However, professionals can do better in the installation of slab granite in your kitchen.
Another reason is that granite slab is tough to transport, fabricate and install.
It weighs 13 pounds per square foot on the average.
Granite slab is slab and comes in huge sheets.
You may find a hard time working on such heavy material.
Modular granite is different from the tile, but not entirely too different.
You can easily pick-up cartoons of granite tile from your nearest Lowes store.
It's also trouble-free to install granite tile on your own.
The only problem is that tile granite on kitchen counter top gives you a lot of seams.
Seams can rapidly collect dirt and is very difficult to clean.
Not so chef friendly.
So, why should you prefer modular granite? Modular granite comes somewhere between a granite slab and granite tile.
However, it is a bit similar to the granite tile.
It usually comes in per-cut mini slabs.
It was actually designed for kitchen counters while granite tiles are for bathroom floors.
It also comes in kitchen ready shapes and dimensions.
Its width is only twelve inches on the average.
The modular granite is much easier to transport than the slab granite.
It is packed in 35 to 80 pounds in average weight.
Most distributors have it in 50 pounds per box which is very manageable.
It also cost much cheaper than slab granite.
As opposed to slab granite, you can install modular granite by yourself with little help for do-it-yourself websites.
