Troubleshooting

• 1). Turn on the pump.
  
  
• 2). Take a close look before removing the valve from the discharge pipe for detailed examination.
  
  
• 3). Check that any water on the valve is not just condensation.
  
  
• 4). Switch off the pump and listen for a loud noise, like a bang.
  
  

Leaking Valve

• 1). Switch off the pump.
  
  
• 2). Tighten the clamp. Turn on the pump to see if the valve continues to leak.
  
  
• 3). Turn off the pump and unscrew the clamp if the valve is still leaking.
  
  
• 4). Apply plumber's putty to the valve's inner tread with your finger. It will make the valve waterproof.
  
  
• 5). Reassemble the valve and clamp on the discharge pipe.
  
  
• 6). Switch on the pump again and check the valve for leaks.
  
  

Banging Noises

• 1). Turn off the pump.
  
  
• 2). Remove the old clamp and valve. Replace with a noise-free one.
  
  
• 3). Tighten up the clamp.
  
  
• 4). Switch the pump on again and, after a while, switch it off. Wait to hear if banging sounds continue coming from the discharge pipe.
  
  
• 5). Switch off the pump if the noises continue and change any remaining old valves for noise-free ones. Retest the pump again if needed.
  
  

Dirty Valve

• 1). Switch off the pump.
  
  
• 2). Remove the clamp and valve and examine it for dirt and silt. This, and other debris, prevents the valve's inner lid closing properly. The weight and force of water flowing through it may damage the pump.
  
  
• 3). Wash out the valve under a tap until it is clean. Check that the lid can now close properly.
  
  
• 4). Reassemble the valve and clamp on the discharge pipe.
  
  
• 5). Switch the pump on again to ensure no leaks and noises are coming from the discharge pipe.
