Fabulous Wedding Favors

One of the fun ways to personalize your wedding is with the favors that you choose.
There are many directions that you can go with favors.
You can go with something, classic, earthy, or even opulent.
It all depends on your taste and your budget.
The traditional wedding favor is something sweet.
A little box of truffles tied with a pretty satin ribbon is tasty and affordable.
A fun twist on that idea is to have M&Ms printed with your names and wedding date.
Large and beautifully frosted sugar cookies in little bags are another classic favor.
They can be custom made to tie in with the season, the location, or your hobbies.
Everything "green" is in these days, and that includes favors.
For the eco-conscious bride and groom, look for favors that are earth friendly, like tiny potted trees or seed packets.
Some couples prefer to make donations to environmental charities in lieu of giving out favors.
If you are in the mood for something more extravagant, what about little silver boxes engraved with the initials of your guests? (You could fill them with chocolates, if you want.
) You can use the same type of boxes to hold jewelry for bridesmaid gifts.
Oh, and if you already gave your attendants the adorable little silver boxes as part of their bridesmaid gifts, you may be wondering what to put at their place settings for favors.
Why not something like a silver frame with a picture of the bride and her friend together - it would make a beautiful set with the silver box.
The artistic bride and groom could make something special and unique for their favors (this might be a good idea if your wedding is on the small side - making 250 of anything would be too overwhelming).
It could really be anything that shows your talent.
A ceramic artist could make tiny vases, a watercolorist could to little paintings presented in silver frames, etc.
If you are a fanatical canner, jars of homemade preserves with custom labels would be great.
There is no limit to how creative you could be in making your favors, and your guests would have a cherished keepsake from your wedding.
Favors that tie in with the location of a wedding are always popular.
For instance, I once went to a wedding at Mohunk Resort in the Catskills, and the bride had made tiny little boxes which held a pen from the resort.
Unusual, but fun and memorable.
If your wedding is in Maine, you could choose something lobstery, a crystal apple paperweight would be very New York City, you get the idea.
Local food delicacies are also always welcomed by guests.
One of my favorite favors ever was at a wedding where the bride and groom hired a photographer to do portraits of all of the couples.
They printed them out on paper imprinted with the couple's names and wedding date, popped them into silver frames, and handed them out on the spot.
It was such a thoughtful idea, and it made for a wonderful instant memento.
The wedding favors are one of those little details that can really make your wedding feel unique.
Have fun picking out your favors - it is one aspect of the wedding for which there are no rules, and you can be as serious or silly as you like.
Giving your guests that perfect little something to take with them is a great way to thank them for coming to your wedding.
