Our NHL trade rumors are gathered from media and online sources around the hockey world. You can also consult our index of previously reported trade rumors.
  • Dave Molinari at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette says the Penguins are getting offers for D Paul Martin, “but he’s not being actively shopped now.” Others say the Penguins are actively offering Martin around the league.
  • The word from several sources is that Vancouver G Roberto Luongo will waive his no-trade rights only if the Canucks make a deal that sends him to the Florida Panthers.
Luongo’s family is based in Florida, which helps fuel rumors of a Panthers deal. But Florida has been grooming 22-year-old Jacob Markstrom for the starting goaltender’s job, so you have to wonder if they have any interest in Luongo and his huge contract.

It’s been reported that Luongo has already turned down potential trades to Toronto and Chicago, though other sources dismiss those reports, insisting that he has not explicitly ruled out any options.

The prevailing opinion in the Canadian media is that a Luongo-to-Toronto deal makes too much sense not to happen.

    • Several times a year we hear reports that Ducks F Bobby Ryan is available, and those rumors have surfaced again. The Islanders are believed to have made a pitch, and the Flyers are always mentioned as a destination. Ryan has spoken publicly about his frustration at seeing his name constantly floated in trade reports.
    • With several teams seeking blueline depth, reports out of Chicago say the Blackhawks are talking to Edmonton, Florida and Tampa Bay, offering D Niklas Hjalmarsson and D Steve Montador.
    • Bob McKenzie at TSN says Coyotes D Keith Yandle was available during the NHL Entry Draft. But the asking price was high. The Flyers were one team believed to be interested, but that interest might have cooled after the acquisition of D Luke Schenn.
    • It’s nearly a week since Nick Kypreos of Sportsnet claimed the Canadiens are “quietly shopping” D P.K. Subban. The rumor hasn’t gained much support since then.
    • Stars F Steve Ott was a popular name at the 2012 NHL trade deadline, and Pierre LeBrun at ESPN says several teams have renewed their efforts to pry him from Dallas. LeBrun says Montreal ought to be interested, given the Canadiens need for size up front.

      • After trading for and signing D Dennis Wideman, the Flames could be looking to unload D Jay Bouwmeester.
Though he’s been a disappointment to those hoping he would take charge as a dominant, number-one defenseman, Bouwmeester has been consistent for Calgary, and he might thrive in a different environment.

St. Louis has been mentioned as a possible fit.
      • Allen Panzeri of the Ottawa Citizen is one of several sources reporting that the Senators are currently the only “serious bidder” for Blue Jackets F Rick Nash. But Nash is reportedly not interested in going to Ottawa.
It’s believed that other teams are waiting to see who they might land in the free agent market before renewing offers to Columbus. Interest in Nash is expected to revive once the bidding war for Devils F Zach Parise is over.

Panzeri earlier reported a rumor that had San Jose offering F Ryan Clowe, F Joe Pavelski, D Jason Demers and a first-round pick for Nash, but have now dropped out of the bidding.

Columbus GM Scott Howson was quoted as saying there wasn’t much interest in Nash at the NHL Entry Draft.
