Types of Harley Motorcycles
- Originally designed as racing bikes, Sportsters are lighter and narrower than other Harleys. They come in 883cc and 1200cc models.
- Also known as "full dressers," these motorcycles come with full fairings (and sound systems), large saddlebags and comfortable, plush seats. Models include the Road Kings and Electra Glides. Used by several police departments, they are designed for long-distance travel.
- Softails are the "traditional" motorcycles of Harley-Davidson's range. They have classic cruiser styling that hails back to choppers of the 1940s and 1950s.
- Another "traditional" style, these large motorcycles evoke old-fashioned road bikes with their upright riding position. Models include the Dyna Glide, the Fat Bob and the Wide Glide.
- Also known as V-Rods, the VRSC range is a break from the traditional Harley-Davidson cruiser style. They have been compared with Japanese street motorcycles. VRSCs are also the first Harley-Davidsons with liquid cooling.
- Harley-Davidson also produces trikes and runs Custom Vehicle Operations, an in-house customization shop. Here, regular motorcycles are transformed into unique machines.
