How to Grow Rose of Sharon Hibiscus
- 1). Find an appropriate spot in your garden that gets full sun and has some protection against frost and cold, such as next to a building.
- 2). Allow four to six feet between plants, because Rose of Sharon will grow quite large.
- 3). Dig compost, peat moss and a small amount of Perlite into your garden bed to enrich the soil and give it good drainage. If you are planting your Rose of Sharon in a large pot, combine a good potting mix with the same ingredients.
- 4). Dig a hole(s) slightly larger than the rootball of the young Rose of Sharon plant(s).
- 5). Place your young plant into the hole you have dug and then tap the soil down around its base so it sits securely.
- 6). Water your new planting well, and keep it moist until new growth begins to appear. After that, if you keep the soil slightly dry, your plant will thrive.
