School Pom Pom Craft
- Make mini hanging bats for Halloween. The children will be able to attach the eyes, ears and wings but the teacher will need to attach the string to the pom pom. Choose black pom poms and select sizes based on how large the bats will become. Attach googly eyes and cut jagged bat wings out of felt or paper. Glue them to the side of the pom pom. Attach a string to the head with a hot glue gun and tie the other end of the string to a stick. This craft also works well as a pencil topper which hangs down the pencil by the string.
- Use different sizes of pom poms to create a bear. Large pom poms provide the body and head while smaller pom poms provide the arms, legs, ears and nose. Glue the pom poms together to create the bear image. Add googly eyes for a finishing touch. Glue the whole bear to a piece of colorful cardboard or heavy paper to create a base to help the bear stay upright.
- Create little desktop decorations with pom pom critters. Purchase pom poms of every different type as well as pipe cleaners, googly eyes and foam hands and feet. Glue the eyes to the pom pom then glue on the hands and feet. Cut a pipe cleaner to add two antennae on top and glue smaller pom poms onto the pipe cleaner ends. The feet will serve as a base so the critter will stand on the desk.
- Gather together brown yarn, yellow pom poms, googly eyes, a balloon, liquid starch and felt pieces to create this decoration. Blow up the balloon to approximately four inches and cover it with starched yarn. After the yarn dries, pop the balloon and cut the yarn in half. There are now two nests. Glue yellow pom poms into the nest, add eyes and orange triangles of felt. Stand back and admire the chicks in the nest.
