If you have a cat that marks or one that has a few accidents here and there, then you are probably all too familiar with the smell of cat urine that never seems to go away.
Yes, cat pee is one of the longest lasting scents in the animal world.
It is also one of the hardest to eliminate.
But, it can be done! Vinegar White vinegar is a powerful cleansing and deodorizing agent.
It works best if applied immediately.
As soon as you notice an accident has occurred, wet it with white vinegar and let it sit for a few minutes before wiping away.
If you have tile floors, the vinegar will be able to kill all odor causing bacteria.
However, if you have carpet, it gets a bit harder.
Every inch that has been affected needs to get treated.
If the urine has been given time to work its way into the padding, you would need to wet both the carpet and underlying padding to fully kill the odor.
You may need to do this several times before it is completely gone.
Baking Soda Place this on soils immediately.
It will soak up the urine and eliminate and prevent odors from developing.
It works well in the refrigerator and it will do the same on accidents.
But, you will need to apply while the soil is still 'fresh.
' Enzymes Enzymes are the most effective! They are available commercially.
Do not buy in bulk however.
Because the enzymes are live, they do not live very long on the shelf and even shorter once opened.
Buy enough for what you need only.
They do not store.
Never Use Ammonia Excellent at cleaning glass, it is horrible for cleaning pet messes.
Instead of helping, it will only make matters worse.
It will actually add to the odor problem and will encourage your cat to use the spot again to go pee.
