How to Be a Toy for Halloween
- 1). Choose a toy to dress up as. There are hundreds of options, but popular toys include Army figures, dolls, stuffed animals, Barbie and toys from movies, such as Woody or Buzz Lightyear from "Toy Story."
- 2). Use a picture of the toy or the toy itself as a guide for making your costume. Note any distinguishing features, such as the base of an Army figure, the color of the toy, whether the toy has a human or non-human shape, and other distinguishing characteristics.
- 3). Determine the materials necessary to make the costume. To make a stuffed animal costume, you would need a sweatsuit for the body of the animal, stuffing to make the body fat and makeup to create toy-like eyes. For an Army man, you would need green face paint, green Army clothing and a toy weapon. To make a doll, you would need a baby outfit and diaper, or a cute, short dress and baby bonnet.
- 4). Sketch your costume design. Use this as a guide when making the costume.
- 5). Make or purchase all materials needed to make the costume. Put together the costume ahead of time to ensure the costume works properly.
- 6). Put on the costume and any makeup or paint necessary. Fix your hair in the necessary style, or hide it under a wig, hat or other costume covering.
