Removal of Mold Spores From Vinyl
- Mold spores grow on vinyl and other material when conditions are right. These conditions include excess moisture in the air and poor air circulation. Mold spores growing on vinyl can spread to other materials in the room and to other parts of the house.
- The first step in removing mold from vinyl is spraying all visible mold with water to dampen it. This will prevent mold spores from being released while you are cleaning the vinyl. Create a solution of one part rubbing alcohol and one part water and use it to wash down the vinyl, and dry it immediately using a fan.
- To make sure mold growth does not return to the vinyl, improve air circulation in the room by installing a fan or an exhaust fan to remove excess humidity from the air. Regularly wiping down the vinyl with a damp sponge that has been dipped in the alcohol and water solution will prevent mold spores from growing.
