How to Install a Metal Raceway for a Ceiling Fan on a Concrete Ceiling

104 6
    • 1). Chalk a straight line across the concrete ceiling from the wall where the metal raceway will start to the mounting location of the ceiling fan. Measure the length of the chalk line to determine how many sections of raceway you need and which section you will need to cut.

    • 2). Measure and mark the section of raceway and cut it with a hacksaw. File the end to remove any burrs or sharp edges.

    • 3). Make marks on the chalk line where the sections of raceway will meet and every 32 inches in between.

    • 4). Drill holes on the marks with a hammer drill and masonry bit. Make the holes 1/4 inch deeper than the length of the concrete screws.

    • 5). Place support clips over the holes with the tabs down. Insert a concrete screw in each of the mounting holes of the clips and tighten them securely with a Phillips screwdriver.

    • 6). Snap the metal raceway onto the support clips, pressing the raceway firmly until it locks onto the clips. Start at the wall and place the sections, end to end, until the raceway extends to the fan location. Place caps, if included, over the raceway joints for a more finished appearance.
