Grand Canyon Bus Tours for Mother"s Day

105 4
This year, mom's special day is on May 12, and if you want a great way to celebrate, take you mom on a bus tour of the Grand Canyon. These tours head out from Las Vegas 365 days a year, and they're a terrific way to show your Mom how much she's appreciated.

Bus tours that Sunday will run on the same schedules as other days. In previous years, the holidays were very busy with families filling the buses to share the wonders of the Grand Canyon with mom.

These bus trips to the Grand Canyon are so popular in part because they are very affordable. Take the all inclusive South Rim tour, for example, it only costs $80!

First, you have to figure out which of the rims you want to go see. The South Rim is nearly 270 miles from Vegas, but the West Rim is closer by half. It takes 5 hours to bus to the South Rim, but the West is only 2 hours away.

One advantage of booking a bus tour of the West Rim is you can add on exciting side trips. Some things you can do there include walking on the glass Skywalk, floating down the Colorado River, and taking a helicopter ride to the floor of the canyon!

That chopper flight to the bottom can only be done at the West Rim (federal regulations prohibit this everywhere else in the National Park). Its uniqueness makes it my top choice for mom's tour.

She'd love the Skywalk package too. It is a massive structure shaped like a horseshoe, and is actually the world's largest cantilevered bridge made from glass. Construction costs were more than $30 million. At the apex your Mom will be standing 4,000 feet above the canyon floor, 70 feet past the rim's edge!

On the other hand, tours to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon are popular too. There are several choices. One tour takes you by the immense Hoover Dam where you can stop and take photographs, and another stops for a buffet lunch in Williams, Arizona. It's mom's day, though, so I'd pull out all the stops and pop for the tour that includes a rim to rim chopper flight as well as the stop at Hoover Dam.

The bus tours on this special day will probably sell out quickly so book your seats as soon as you can. Try to get your seats a week or two beforehand or you might miss out if you wait too long.

Even though it is a popular day for tours, you can get a discount on the ticket price. Booking in advance will save you some cash. Plus, if you buy your tickets on the tour operator's website, you can get a special discount. The tour companies set the prices and offer the best deals, not the big box travel sites like Orbitz or Expedia. Complete your purchase on the tour company's site and you'll get a terrific Internet discount.

Wrapping Up

It won't be long until mom's holiday is here. The day is special, so take her on a special experience, a fabulous bus tour of the Grand Canyon. No matter which bus tour you choose, you will get fantastic value and have a fun experience. They're a terrific way to see the wonders of the magnificent Grand Canyon.

I hope to see you there!
