How to Backflush a Pool
- 1). Turn off the pump system that moves water to the filter. Move the filter's handle from the "Filter" setting to the "Backwash" setting.
- 2). Unravel any backwash hose attached to the filter and place it on the ground near a suitable drainage area. Turn on the pump system and keep the filter running for two to three minutes, or until the water moving out of the backwash line is clear.
- 3). Shut off the pump system and turn the filter handle to the "Rinse" setting. Run the filter on "Rinse" for at least 30 seconds to allow the sand in the filter to settle. Shut off the pump system.
- 4). Move the filter handle from the "Rinse" to the "Filter" setting. Run the pump and observe the pool returns, looking for any sand returning to the pool. If sand comes form the pool returns, rinse the filter once more.
