How to Repel Japanese Beetles From Boston Ivy
- 1). Add 6 tsp. of Dymet insecticide to the reservoir of a gallon-sized garden sprayer.
- 2). Fill the sprayer the rest of the way with water.
- 3). Select a still day for spraying the Boston ivy so the insecticide does not travel to other plants. Select a day in the early spring, when the beetles are just emerging as adults. The first day the temperatures reach above 50 degrees Fahrenheit is appropriate.
- 4). Spray the entire surface of the Boston ivy according to the directions on the insecticide package. Repeat the application as instructed.
- 5). Pull up any weeds around the base of the Boston ivy plant. Japanese beetles will sometimes overwinter in weeds.
