How to Kill Mold & Mildew Growth on Walls
- 1). Wipe away all the mold and mildew that's visible with a dry towel.
- 2). Select a product that contains a mild alkali such as washing soda or trisodium phosphate. Look at the ingredients of household cleaners to see if they are included.
- 3). Combine 8 to 10 tbsp. of the cleaner with one gallon of water in a large bucket. Mix well.
- 4). Dip a sponge or scrubber into the cleaning solution and begin washing the walls. Wash the entire area from the base of the floor to the ceiling. Mold spores aren't visible to the eye, so be sure to clean areas that may not have visible mold.
- 5). Use a clean, dry towel to wipe away any excess moisture. Circulate as much air in the affected room as you can. Focus fan wind on the wall, turn on ceiling fans and open all the windows. This dries out the space and makes it difficult for the mold and mildew to come back.
