Success Through Encouragement

Today, upon announcing that my article, "Getting HIP with My Duck Log" is going to be published in a popular quarterly hunting magazine, a student asked me how in the world I manage to do the things I do. "What do you mean?" I asked. "How did you get published? How did you get to do the commercial and all those other things you have done?" My immediate response was that first of all you have to decide to do something. Then you have to do it! "But why do you think you can just go out and do those things?"

I guess she sees that there really is nothing special about me. I am just a high school teacher in a small, rural town. I haven't been writing for years, I don't have great connections and I'm certainly no genius. The answer is simple enough though: I have someone who believes in me and who motivates me.

My Encouragement
Roanna is a very special lady who has decided for herself that, even without a full high school education, is perfectly capable of changing of the world. And why shouldn't she? She is an intelligent, successful entrepreneur: She owns a business and multiple properties, she is writing a book, has spoken at a worldwide conference, has been interviewed multiple times, and is planning to put on weekly podcasts to further her incredible cause. On top of all this, she is an amazing mom of three great kids. She is my inspiration. And she is not alone.

Many seemingly "normal" people are diving in to take chances in their lives in order to do what they feel passionate about. My oldest sister, Lezlie, is another inspiration. She has published a book and is working on others. She recently decided to learn as much as possible about how to create a passive income stream with rental properties and in less than a year has purchased her first property. She too, is a terrific mom of three great young men. My father's education ended after the 8th grade yet he worked his way up from being a custodian to an area supervisor of a major telecommunications group. One of my best friends is a regular on hunting show, another friend is contributing author for several magazines, while an "ordinary" girl I knew from high school has climbed Mt. Everest. The list goes on.

Everyday people who decide that they have the desire to do what excites them put themselves out on a line to reach their goals. They may not reach super-star status. That is rarely the goal. They may in fact struggle for years. The key is that they don't give up. Why? Because not only are they passionate about what they want, but also because, like me, they have someone in their life for support and encouragement.

The world holds great opportunities for all of us. You have to decide what you want, put in the work to figure how, and then try! Then, when you're lucky enough to find someone who believes and cares about you enough to push you and hold you up, take a minute to tell them how much you appreciate them. They are a key component for your success.
