Blackpool Pleasure Beach is one of the most visited tourist attractions in the United Kingdom with around 7.8 Million visitors a year.
Blackpool has seen massive investment since the super casino project was dropped in 2007. The then Labour Government saw the need to re-vitalise Blackpool after the huge disappointment caused when the Casino project went to Manchester.

Since that time and up to and including 2012 massive investment has taken place with the entire seafront having been reconstructed to 21st Century standards both making it visually attractive and increasing defences along the sea front from flooding.

In addition Merlin Entertainments have invested heavily in the town and opened several new tourist attractions at a revamped Blackpool Tower which is now modelled on the London Eye, Madame Tussauds and the Sea Life Centre.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach is situated in South Shore Blackpool a short way from Blackpool South railway station and Blackpool South Pier. The main entrance to the park is off Ocean Boulevard which is pretty much opposite the Sandcastle Water-park which in turn is adjacent to Blackpool South Pier.

Families looking to visit the Pleasure Beach are advised that it is a €full day attraction' it comprises or around 38 types of ride from roller coasters to more sedate children's rides and 4 dedicated water rides. It is not possible to be able to enjoy all this park has to offer in a few hours as already stated it is best to allow a whole day to visit. Tickets are normally in the form of unlimited ride wristbands so the one ticket allows as many rides per attraction as the rider wishes to undertake. In addition the Pleasure Beach also put on Summer Shows and a famous Ice Skating show called Hot Ice, the wristband or non-rider please beach pass tickets allow cut price access to these.

Hot Ice is a skating extravaganza show which was created by Stageworks Worldwide Productions, a Blackpool and West End based company owned by Amanda Thompson, the managing director of Pleasure Beach Blackpool. The show has been running for many years and stars Olympic ice skaters and dancers. The show is performed in an auditorium in the Arena, a large skating rink in the centre of the park. The Arena is also open to the public when matinee performances of Hot Ice are not featured.

Now that Blackpool has so much to offer families and that to give the Pleasure Beach attraction full justice it should be enjoyed for the whole day it will make sense for families travelling more than 50 miles to reach Blackpool stay over for a day or two. Blackpool has a number of famous other attractions some of which have already been named in this article such as the Sandcastle Water Park, the Blackpool Tower Eye and Madame Tussauds to name a short few.
Those looking to stay over will need to consider their accommodation requirements, there are plenty of bed and breakfasts, cheap hotels and b&b's across the whole town but it is worth considering location when choosing where to stay. South Shore Blackpool is seen as the family end of town as two of the premier family attractions are located here. The Pleasure Beach and the Sandcastle Water Park both of which lie close to each other either side of the Promenade just South of Blackpool South Pier.

There are plenty of cheap hotels both along the Promenade and along the streets which run down to it. A B&B in Station, Withnell or Osborne Road would be ideal for the Pleasure Beach which is only a very short walk. Whereas Dean, Rawcliffe and Moore Street which lie to the North of Station Road are also quite suitable and within easy reach of both the Pleasure Beach and Sandcastle, with the attractions in the centre of town only being a 25 minute walk away.

South Shore is mainly seen as the family end of town due to the fact it is away from the centre where all the pubs, disco's and nightclubs exist. This is not to say there are none in the immediate area simply that what pubs there are will welcome children and will not blast out deafening music all night. An added bonus is the ability to park as South Shore is pretty much unregulated from controlled parking zones and visitors will be able to find street parking close by their bed and breakfasts.
