Many weight loss programmes are actually just a fad diet repackaged and marketed as the newest and latest way to reduce your weight.
If you are able to research some of the latest weight loss programmes you will find that they are based on principles from programmes that have been around for years.
How can you tell if a fad diet is just an old programme repackaged? If it is based on food deprivation of one of the food groups it is not a healthy programme.
Programmes that are based on eating mostly one of the food groups or one food only your body will not be getting all of the nutrition it needs to function properly.
Your body needs a variety of foods to stay healthy as not all foods contain the same nutrients.
Crash diets make you dehydrated.
Low calorie diets put your body into starvation mode so you aren't able to lose much weight and high protein diets put stress on your kidneys and clog your arteries.
Both protein and fat are important in your diet as they both play important metabolic and physiological roles in the body.
For your body to function at its optimum level it needs a range of nutrients obtained from a variety of foods.
Fad and crash diets, such as the types described above, are not only very unhealthy for your body but can also be the cause for rebound weight especially when you go off them.
What you need to succeed is a healthy weight loss programme that allows you to eat a balanced diet across all the food groups.
