    • 1). Place the 1/2-inch plywood sheets on a flat surface. Using the measuring tape and pencil, draw two identical rectangles measuring 48 1/2 inches by 6 1/2 inches. These will be the side pieces for the tower.

    • 2). Draw seven pieces, each measuring 12 inches by 6 1/2 inches. These pieces are the top, bottom and shelving pieces in the tower.

    • 3). Draw one large piece measuring 48 1/2 inches by 13 inches. This will be the back piece of the tower.

    • 4). Cut all 10 pieces out with the jigsaw. Sand the edges with sandpaper to remove splinters.

    • 5). Lay one of the long side pieces on its side. Starting at one end, measure in 1/2 inch and make a mark with a pencil. From that point, measure 7 1/2 inches and make a mark. From that point, measure 1/2 inch and make a mark. Continue this pattern until the side piece has been marked from one end to the other. Each set of marks creates a 1/2-inch space where the top, bottom and shelves will be attached.

    • 6). Line up one of the seven pieces with the first 1/2-inch space so its end fits within the space drawn. Attach the piece using a hammer and nails. Attach the remaining six pieces in the same manner. Each piece will fit in one of the 1/2-inch spaces drawn in Step 5.

    • 7). Line up the second side piece so it covers all the ends of the seven attached shelving pieces. Attach the loose end of each shelving piece to the second side piece with the hammer and nails. Use the small level to make sure each shelf is level before driving in the nails.

    • 8). Turn the DVD tower so it faces downward. Place the large back piece on top of the tower frame. Line up its edges with each side. Attach the back piece to the frame by hammering nails around its perimeter into the frame.
