    Uses

    • The National Geographic Young Explorers program offers seed money for projects by archaeologists from ages 18 to 24. Another use is for travel costs, such as Graduate Student Travel Award from the Archaeological Institute of America.

    Sources

    • Many grants come from foundations, such as the John Templeton Foundation, who recognize the work of archaeologists. Others come from government sources, such as Utah's Department of Community and Culture.

    Geography

    • Some archaeology grants are limited to specific locations. For instance, the Florida Bureau of Historical Preservation hosts a number of small grants for work done in that state.

    Considerations

    • Many grants are available to a broader range of scientists. Check granters like the National Science Foundation at nsf.org for such grants.
