Christmas is a time to celebrate family and togetherness. Choose Christmas crafts for kids to do at home. Such activities work well to help you bond as a family. Let your child's imagination run wild while you help her create Christmas crafts for your home. If the project involves glue or scissors, supervise younger children while they work on their crafts. - Create a Christmas scene in a shadow box. Young children may need an adult's help with this craft. Use artificial snow to decorate the background of a shoe box. Add ornaments and Christmas figurines to create a holiday scene. Let your child arrange the Christmas scene. Display the Christmas shadow box in your living room or in the child's bedroom.
- Use candy canes to create a Christmas craft. This project requires a coffee can, two strong rubber bands, ribbon and candy canes. Use an empty oatmeal container for this craft if you don't have a coffee can. Use the rubber bands to hold the candy canes to the can. Cover the bands with green or red ribbon. Fill the candy cane vase with candy, flowers or evergreen branches. Place the vase on a table or fireplace mantel.
- Create a card tree. Use this craft to display your Christmas cards. This holiday project requires green poster board, a pencil, scissors and glue. Ask your child to draw a Christmas tree on the poster board--she should give the tree plenty of branches. Cut out the tree and let her decorate it with markers, crayons or glitter pens. Cut out birds or ornaments from last year's Christmas cards. Glue the decorations to the Christmas tree. Hang the tree in a prominent place in your home. Glue this year's Christmas cards to the tree as you receive them.
- Show your children how to create mini-Christmas tree place holders. This project requires foam cups, acrylic paint, glitter, yellow construction paper, scissors and craft glue. Paint the foam cups green. Let them dry. Decorate the foam cups with glitter or paint. Cut out stars from yellow construction paper. Use a marker to write a guest's name on each star. Use glue or tape to attach the stars to the foam Christmas trees.
