    Home Planetarium

    • There's no need to head out to the local planetarium when you can bring the stars to your living room. Home planetariums, such as the Star Theater Pro, will have you sailing through the cosmos while lounging in your favorite comfy chair. Darken the room, aim the system at the ceiling or wall, put some Mozart or Pink Floyd on the stereo and let the show begin. You can set the stars to move at the revolution you desire. The system also comes with a timer for automatic shut-off in case you doze off. The Star Theater Pro features two interchangeable discs (starfield or earth, moon and sun), adjustable-focus lens and an ultra-bright LED light source. It runs on three AAA batteries.

    Photo Frame Printer

    • Digital photography is great in that we're no longer limited to a finite number of prints, like we were with film, nor do we have to pay development fees. However, digital photos are often downloaded, relegated to a file folder and forgotten. The iMo Photo Frame Printer will display photos on its LCD screen, but it also boasts a built-in printer to turn digital images into quality prints. Just plug in the memory card and let the slide show begin. If you see a photo you like, press the remote control and out comes the print. It comes with a starter cartridge and 12 prints to get you going.

    Loss Prevention System

    • If you know one of those people who is always losing stuff such as keys and pocketbooks, the Cobra Tag may be just the gift. It's a loss-prevention system that incorporates a smartphone app and Bluetooth with a small key-fob device. The Cobra Tag app is downloaded to a smartphone, and the key-fob device is attached to the item that needs protection. The system will monitor the distance between the phone and the tagged item and sounds an alarm should they become separated. It records the GPS location and time of day they become separated and sends the info via email, text message, Facebook or Twitter.

    Cubelets Construction Toy

    • Cubelets are not your father's erector set. Like Lego's with brains, the blocks are snapped together to make a variety of robots without the use of wires or programming. Each block contains a tiny computer and is a mini-robot in its own right with its own default behavior. Some make noise, some shine like flashlights, while others display info via a back-lit bar graph. When assembled, they can drive around on tabletops and will respond to light, sound and temperature with lifelike behavior. The standard kit comes with 20 blocks.
