    "Resume" Light is Blinking

    • 1). Print a self-test page to see if the printer can still function. Hold the "Power" button down as your press the "Resume" button four times, then release the "Power" button.

    • 2). Turn the printer off, wait 15 seconds, then turn the printer back on. If the light continues to blink, continue troubleshooting.

    • 3). Pull out the USB cable and power cord from the printer. Remove all loose paper from the printer's trays.

    • 4). Open the printer's rear door by turning the knob from the closed lock icon to the open lock icon. Pull out any jammed paper inside, including small pieces, then replace the rear door and turn the knob to the closed lock icon.

    • 5). Open the printer's top cover and pull out any jammed paper you see inside. Move the cartridge carriage with your hands and remove any pieces of paper that obstruct its movement.

    • 6). Pull up on the latch over both print cartridges and remove the cartridges, then push each one back into its slot until it locks into place. Lower the latches over the cartridges and close the printer's top cover.

Color Documents Print in Black Ink Only

    • 1). Open the printer's top cover and wait for the cartridge carriage to stop moving. Lift up the latch over the color cartridge and remove it from the printer.

    • 2). Inspect the color cartridge for any protective tape left on the bottom or over the metallic contact points. Reinstall the cartridge and lower the latch over it, then close the top cover.

    • 3). Click "File" at the top of the program you are printing from, then click on "Print." Select the 990C from the pull-down menu at the top of the window, then click "Properties."

    • 4). Click the box next to "Print in Grayscale" so no check mark appears, then click on the "OK" button. Select the "Print" button to try printing the document again.

    • 5). Open a color document in another program, then print the document. If the printout is still in black ink only, remove the color ink cartridge and install a new color cartridge, making sure to remove the protective tape from the new cartridge first.
